Social Musings 101: The Smoothie

So many of year are probably drinking one as we speak. If you’re not drinking of one you have been thinking of one or want one. What is the illustrious drink that you prefer? Yes you guessed it the “Smoothie”. Many of us take for granted the ability to drink fruit in a glass or cup before we start or during our day. According to Wikipedia the Fred Waring came out with an electric blender. He hired a home economics consultant named Mabel Stegner to come up with some recipes for the blender. She came up with several recipes for the blender which included mixing fruit and milk together and other combinations. So the next time you go to your favorite smoothie shop, say Thank You to Fred and Mabel. Since the two, put their minds together and gave us this new social staple of value, alot of us have been healthier as a result. Not only that but the smoothie industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Who would have thought that selling liquid fruit could make so much money? You can read more about the history of the smoothie by clicking the link below. Until next time enjoy your friday.

How Schools Kill Creativity

http://www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativity

This is a very great video about how in school we are taught to think in a straight line and any deviation from that line is punished. So we tend to stay that way throughout life and then we wonder why kids don’t take creative risks and always play it safe.

Corona Santiago High School Graduation Surprise Flash Mob by James Creative Arts and Entertainment Company

So we were booked by this lovely couple who wished to throw a flash mob graduation party for their son Dominic. So I frantically called around to get the right dancers and choreographers together. Some people that said they would be there flaked as usual, then others that were supposed to be at the performance decided they weren’t going to show up. But the show must go on. So the show when on and all fun was had by all who attended. One of the best choreographers that I have worked with Marcia. Marcia hands down stole the show with the kids dance moves that she choreographed and had them practice night and day so that the performance would be excellent. Hats off to Marcia and her friends and family who showed up and gave love and to everyone at the party as well. Thanks again.

Here’s some photos of the dance group. Marcia is in the back directly behind me in the middle of the pic.

Patience and Persistence by DJ Electramorhipism

Etiwanda Intermediate Graduation Party

So still tired last night from Djing for Jadah’s Graduation Party. This was the highest turn out for a graduation party that I’ve seen since I’ve been djing for these last 3 years. But fun was had by all. I messed up on some transitions as I was multi-tasking and needed to remind myself to refocus on the music. One new thing I learned. Play music and watch the dance floor, if there dancing then keep playing, if there not, change it, quick, fast, and in a hurry. Don’t be afraid to fail and stay on your toes. Near the end of the night the Dj Software failed but Life goes on, didn’t panic, used another method and all fun was had by all. As the youngsters say, “That party was turntup” Electramorhipism out.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
