Fredrik Idestam and Leo Mechelin were the founders of Nokia. Nokia started off making rubber products(believe it or not) tires, boots, and other items made of rubber. The company also started out as 3 companies but never actually merged because it was illegal at the time. The company was ran by Eduard Polon during this time. The company would eventually delve into electricity and consumer products. As the company grew the non conglomerate-conglomerate grew and sold many times of different products, from rubber tires, to military grade masks. Nokia also had to place cables in Russia after WWII as apart of war reparations, which later gave Nokia a foothold in the Russian telecommunications market.
